Here we will discuss the line Graph of variables having direct proportion We have learnt about the direct proportion, where increase/decrease in one quantity, changes the other quantity in same ratio for example if we use more electricity, the bill will be more Similarly if we want to travel more miles, more fuel is required So, Amount of electricity bill depends upon the quantity of electricity used. We say that quantity of electricity is an independent variable (or sometimes control variable) and the amount of electric bill is dependent variable. The relation between such variables can be shown through a graph .

Working Rule:

  1. Take an independent variable (abscissa) along x-axis and the dependent variable (ordinate) along y-axis.
  2. Plot each ordered pair (x, y) and join plotted points.

Example-draw the graph for the values given in the table ,with suitable scale on the axis.
